Some programs only run through the standard school year, most programs do not offer summer programs, if you really want a summer program you are going to have to do a lot of research first. Once you receive the application, fill it out the best that you can. Do not leave any sections blank or incomplete; create a stand out essay or proposal. You want to show the program that you really want to do this.
It would also help if you had some approval letters and recommendation. You may want to try to get these recommendations from the head of the department in your field of study. Teachers would make great recommendations as well. If you do any work-study extra curricular activities then get letters from supervisors or directors of these programs. Every letter helps you get one step closer.
