Fulbright Scholar Program

Fulbright Programs have been helping College bound students and professionals since 1946. The program is designed to help students pay for international student exchange programs or for students who want to study overseas. There are over 300,000 applicants and participants in the United States. The students who are accepted for this program are
considered based on their academic merit as well as leadership potential and the potential to teach and study abroad. The traditional Fulbright Scholar Program helps to send over 800 United States faculty members and professionals overseas every year.

This Scholar Program is very competitive and there are thousands and thousands of applicants every year. But what does it take to be awarded this type of Scholarship? Let’s take a look at the eligibility requirements of this program and see if you qualify. Do you meet these requirements?

• Are you a United States Citizen, in order to qualify you must be a permanent resident of the United States as well as a legal U.S Citizen just having a permanent residence will not be enough. • You must possess a Ph.D or an Equivalent Professional degree. This could include a Master’s Degree if it is in the required field necessary to qualify. • You must have either College or University teaching experience. This experience must be in the filed of the award description at the time you are filling out the application. • You must be of sound mind and physical health

There are some eligibility rules that you must comply with. For example, if you are an employee, husband or wife or a dependent child of an employee of the United States Department of State you cannot be award the Fulbright Scholar Award. If you have had any felony convictions or misdemeanors, you must have full disclosure when you apply for these programs.

If you are interested in applying for the FulBright Scholar Program there are some things that you have to do. The first is to make sure that you are eligible for these awards. You must meet the eligibility deadline as well. Make sure that you read any and all instructions when it comes to applying for the Fulbright. You should already have a plan on where you want to go and why. Try outlining a proposal as to why you deserve to work or school overseas.

All applicants should have 3 different reference letters and 1 teaching report with 2 reference letters. All recommendations and teaching reports should all be from different people. Follow the instructions to a tee, we just mentioned that you should have 3 references, do not submit more than 3. Make sure everything is filled out correctly and everything is spelled properly too. With so many applicants every year applying to the Fulbright, you want to make sure that you are doing it better and more accurately than everyone else. Your application has to stand out.
