Study Guide for Malaysian Student

Step 1: Selection of Institution
Please take note that there are 785 institutions registered with Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia. It is very important for every student to choose his/her institution carefully. Essentially an institution must have a valid-approval from Ministry of Education to offer its programmes, than every institution should apply for MQA (Malaysian Qualification Agency) approval/accreditation for its programmes, it is important for student to know and understand that the accredited programmes have far much better market value as compared to approved programmes.
When choosing your institution legality of an institution is only the partial consideration, there are other things that student must check e.g. the location of the institution, the programme tuition fee (sometimes institutions don’t share the hidden cost during their orientation but later students are required to pay those fees so please check with your counselor on the
hidden cost.
Step 2: Documentation for Visa Application
Student need to prepare the following documents for their visa application:
6 passport size photographs
Certified true copies of all their academic credentials (degrees and transcripts)
Photocopies of all the pages of their passport

Application form of an institution
Application Fee for visa application payable to institution

You can either send the hard copies via courier company to your institution or scan and email the soft copies to your institution, but you need to check with the institution first, if they allow you to do that or not.
Step 4: Application for Visa
This step is done by institution’s designated representative. In order to obtain visa approval from the immigration the representative will carry out the following procedures:

  1. upon receiving the documents from the student, the representative will prepare the document check list to ensure that all the required documents are in order and in accordance with immigration requirement
  2. representative will than present these documents to the head of the department to check on the academic qualification of the student to check his/her eligibility to enroll in the programme
  3. once the principal approve the application, the representative will send the documents for security bond preparation. This process takes between 1 to 2 days.
  4. Once the security bond is ready the representative will scan all the student particulars and submit these documents online in immigration portal and the following day he/she will send the hard copies to immigration office
Step 5: Visa Approval
Usually it takes about 4 to 6 weeks to obtain visa approval from the Malaysian immigration, once the approval is out on the online portal, the representative will collect the approval letter from the immigration office and send it to respective student.
Step 6: Entry Visa from Pakistan
Once the approval is out the immigration will issue the approval letter to the institution’s representative. The representative will mail the approval letter to student and the student need to take this letter to either Malaysian High Commission or to Malaysian Consulate.
Step 7: Arrival in Malaysia
Once the entry visa is stamped on the passport, the student will make arrangement to arrive in Malaysia. As a student we advise you to inform your institution about your flight details at least one week in advance. On the airport the institution representative will present at the immigration counter to verify your documents.
